Supporting Aid Workers

One of my particular interests is in supporting aid workers, due to their often complex work and personal lives.

My MA thesis explored the management of relationships within United Nations' Non-Family Duty Stations. Findings revealed the importance of confidentiality, and the significance of a quality therapeutic alliance, when supporting staff members working in these complex, high threat environments.

Additional findings revealed significant self-stigma around accessing psychosocial support which was particularly prevalent amongst males working in what have been traditionally more masculine roles. This cohort, often outwardly emanate a sense of stability, given their critical roles in maintaining the safety and security of UN personnel, yet do not always embrace the available psychosocial support. Counselling support, although inclusive, needs to have a creative and tailored approach to capture these staff members who may be inwardly struggling.

I am Cigna Affiliated and I am here to consult, offering compassionate, professional and completely confidential support.
